Regulations of the Marketplace
Betta Helvetia

  1. The sales fair will take place on Saturday, 10 October 2026, from 10:00 to 17:00, and on Sunday, 11 October 2026, from 10:00 to 15:00. Each seller must arrive at least one hour before the start of the sales fair at the venue, “Gemeindesaal Zollikon”, Rotfluhstrasse 96, 8702 Zollikon.

  2. Each seller must bring their own equipment. One electrical connection will be provided per seller.

  3. Fish that are too small may not be sold. The market supervision reserves the right to exclude undersized fish from sale. Prices for fish and plants will also be checked.

  4. Accessories may only be sold by prior agreement with Betta Helvetia.

  5. Fish may not be sold or handed over to young people under the age of 16 without parental consent. In the event of a breach of this rule, Betta Helvetia accepts no liability.

  6. Only healthy and vital fish may be offered for sale at the sales fair. They must be approved for sale in Switzerland and must not be protected species. Torture breeding and genetically modified animals are strictly prohibited.

  7. Before the official start of sales, the market supervision will check the animals offered for sale and their prices. Appropriate stocking density will also be checked, especially for larger fish.

  8. The tanks must comply with animal welfare requirements in accordance with Animal Welfare Fact Sheet No. 18.7, in particular pages 4 and 5 regarding substrate, visual barriers, overstocking, etc.). Among other things, tanks must be fully covered on at least two sides with opaque material and must provide sufficient hiding places, such as plants, caves or similar structures.
    The minimum requirements for aquarium sizes can be found below. Only the stocking density may be exceeded if the fish are offered for sale on one day only.

  9. Betta fish, including show-bred forms and wild species, may only be sold by participants of the Zürich Betta Show. Selectively bred betta fish may only be presented and sold in individual aquariums (1 fish per aquarium, both males and females).

  10. Each seller must bring their own transport bags and ensure that the fish are packed properly in accordance with animal welfare legislation. Thermal bags or newspapers for packing must also be provided by the seller. Every fish bag must be packed with mandatory temperature protection.

  11. For every fish or animal species offered for sale, a label or information sheet must be attached to the tank. This must include the German name, the scientific name and the basic needs of the respective species. The label must be attached no later than 30 minutes before the sales fair opens. Copies must be available to hand out to buyers.

  12. All sales will be processed through the sales fair cash desk. At the end of the sales fair, each seller will receive their sales proceeds minus 15%, which will go to Betta Helvetia.

  13. No animals may be given away for free during the opening hours of the sales fair.

  14. The sales area may only be cleared from 15:00 on Sunday. Sellers who have sold out earlier may clear their stand, provided that this does not obstruct or inconvenience anyone.

  15. Payment will in all cases only be made after the sales fair closes on Sunday. Sellers who have already left the venue before then will receive their proceeds by bank transfer during the week of 12 October 2026.

  16. The venue will be open 1.5 hours before the start of the sales fair. It will also be possible to set up stands and place fish in tanks on Friday between 12:00 and 18:00. Further details will be provided with your registration.

  17. If participation is no longer possible, Betta Helvetia must be informed immediately, ideally by telephone.
    Cancellations made by 1 September 2026 are possible without further consequences.
    For later cancellations, Betta Helvetia reserves the right to allow future participation only against payment of an appropriate deposit.
    If no cancellation is made and the stand remains empty, Betta Helvetia may exclude the seller from future events or allow future participation only against payment of a deposit.

  18. Tables will be provided for the sales fair. Any table coverings, mats or other protective materials must be brought by each exhibitor themselves.

  19. For stands that cannot be placed on tables, please inform us in advance.

  20. Betta Helvetia will allocate the space to all sellers in advance. We kindly ask for your understanding that no changes can be made on Saturday.

  21. Betta Helvetia will provide each sales stand with a sign showing the breeder’s name and contact details. We ask everyone to display this clearly and visibly at their sales stand.

  22. Flyers and business cards may only be handed out at your own stand. For posters or banners, please contact us in advance.

  23. Unfortunately, dogs are not permitted anywhere at the sales fair, in accordance with the requirements of the Veterinary Office.

  24. Betta Helvetia accepts no liability for accidents or for the loss of animals.
